About Me

I am a member of the American Psychological Association, Division 39 Psychoanalysis, the Minnesota Psychological Association and the Society for Psychoanalytic Studies in Minnesota. I joined Eunoia Family Resource Center in July of 2012, in addition to teaching at Argosy University-Twin Cities in the Master’s of Clinical Psychology program.

Education

I have been working in the mental health field for 14 years, first as a social skills trainer for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, and then as a case manager for individuals with developmental disabilities, in central Texas before entering graduate school. I attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, majoring in psychology and history. I received my graduate training at the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Professional Psychology. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at Cornerstone Behavioral Health/Mountain Regional Services in Evanston, Wyoming.

Work Experience

I have worked in inpatient and outpatient community mental health, intensive residential treatment and outpatient group practice settings. I have clinical experience working with adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families. I work with a wide range of illnesses and disabilities, including attachment issues, trauma, chemical dependency issues, depression, anxiety and personality issues via DBT and EMDR. In addition to therapy, I conduct a wide range of assessments for learning disorders, disability evaluations, personality assessments (often for diagnostic clarification and treatment guidance), parental fitness evaluations, neuropsychological evaluations of ADHD/executive functions and memory functions, cognitive functioning and intellectual disability evaluations, pre-surgery evaluations for gastric bypass and spinal implants and drug court assessments. My theoretical orientation is psychodynamic and primarily Object-Relations Theory. I also use Jungian ideas, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, behavior modification plans, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Sandtray Therapy and Theraplay-informed interventions.
